NAHL U-16 Div.1
28 July 2008

Glenarriffe 1-15
Kickhams Creggan 1-07

After an evenly contested 15 minutes, the sides were level at 4 points each, with both teams having scored 2 points from play and two frees. But then a ball that should have been cleared long from the Creggan defence was played short which resulted in the visitors being punished with a Glenarriffe goal.

Creggan conceded 3 more frees and a 65m which Glenarriffe converted to lead at half time 1-08 to Kickhams 0-06.

Glenarriffe started the second half the sharper by scoring three unanswered points, but Creggan responded with Conor McCann driving a 21m free to the net. The opposition scored further 4 points on the trot with Conor’s two further goal attempts at 21m frees both being stopped by the home defence. Aidan McKeown added a late score for Creggan when he slotted over a point.

Creggan had the chances to make this a closer game although some of their positions were not as strong as Glenarriffe. Too many frees were conceded by the Green & Gold which were ultimately converted by the home side. The team will have to improve before their next outing in the Shield Final.

Kickhams scorers: Conor McCann (1-05), Odhran McCann (0-01), Aidan McKeown (0-01).
