Kilmacud All-Ireland Seven’s
20 September 2008

Kickhams Creggan 2-04
Aghada (Cork) 2-03

Creggan opened up their first group game with a win against Cork side Aghada. Typically they got off to a slow start and found themselves 2-01 to 0-02 at half time. They turned this around though in the second period as they fired 2 goals and a further two points to record the win by a point.
Adrian Dougan got his marching orders near the end for two yellow cards and Peter McCollum was named man of the match.

Kickhams Creggan 1-04
Longstone (Down) 0-08

Creggan came up against Longstone again after the same team put them out at the quarter final stage of the competition last year. The scoring was at a premium in the opening half with the Down side edging it 0-02 to 0-01. The second half proved much more open with Creggan clawing back to draw the game before Longstone had the final say by slotting over the winning point at the death.
Darrell Martin claimed Creggan’s goal.

Kickhams Creggan 3-07
Kilcummin (Kerry) 4-08

By half time of this match the result proved irrelevant as Longstone had beaten Aghada to top the group and so end Creggan’s participation in the tournament. At the short whistle Creggan trailed the team from Kerry 2-03 to 2-04 with Dermot McCann getting both goals. The second half was again won by Kilcummin by a goal. Darrell Martin hitting the net for Creggan. Peter McCollum was again named man of the match in this game.

Even though Creggan never came out of the group it was still a great day’s football and the occasion was thoroughly enjoyed by both players and supporters alike. The club have been invited back next year which is another great achievement.
