Gala Weekend

Tuesday, October 21, 2008

The club held their gala celebrations over the course of the weekend and it turned out to be a superb number of day’s activities.

It all started with the corporate dinner on Friday night with a massive turnout of 800 people. Saturday was juveniles teams’ day with various games and matches taking place on the new pitch for our under age members. After this was over Paddy McAteer staged a slide show and talk surrounding the life of our club patron Charles Kickham. This was a very interesting and informative depiction of Kickham.

Sunday was the turn of the senior teams to have their day on the pitch with the camogs, hurlers, ladies footballers and men’s footballers all seeing some playing action. The games were completed with an over 40’s match which kept the crowd highly entertained indeed!

The weekend was rounded off on Sunday night with an evening in the new social club. Music was provided by Rendition but it was the young lads making up the hot new group ‘The Planks’ who stole the show as they rocked the crowd with an extensive set of ....4 songs! Brilliant stuff!!

The club wishes to extend a very big thank you to every person who contributed in any way over the course of the weekend as it would not have been possible to pull this off without the help and effort of those involved.
