ACFL Div. 4
29 March 2008

Glenavy 1-09
Kickhams Creggan 1-10

Creggan travelled to Glenavy who were promoted along with Creggan last year for the forth match of the season. From the evidence on show, it would seem that both sides have made the step up to Div. 4 with ease and they should do well in this division.

This was a hard fought win and the result was in the balance right up to the final whistle. Creggan, playing with the breeze in the first half had the better of the opening exchanges and they raced in to the lead with points from Benny Devlin, Leigh Martin and Sam Maguire. A goal was to follow with Martin McCann claiming to get a touch to the ball though for my money it sailed straight in to the net from the boot of Eunan McAteer.

Glevany kept themselves in the match when they were awarded a dubious penalty as it was clear that the infringement had occurred out side the square, but nonetheless the kick was sent to the net.

Half Time: Glenavy 1-03, Kickhams Creggan 1-08

The second half was all about Creggan's defence as it was hard work trying to move the ball up to the forward line against the strong breeze. Creggan only managed to add a further two points to their half time tally but it was just enough to win the game. Full credit must go to Creggan's defenders as they stood up strong and were determined not to get beat.

ACFL Div. 4
22 March 2008

Kickhams Creggan 2-10
St. Johns 1-07

St. Johns travelled to Creggan to take on Kickhams in this Div. 4 clash. This was another hard fought match, borne out by an atrocious tackle from the Johnnies full back on Michael Maguire who has had to get a steel plate inserted in to his face for a fractured cheek bone. There is no place for tackles like the one witnessed on a Gaelic pitch and it was farcical that only a yellow card was produced.

Creggan were always in the ascendancy in this match and it was another good performance from the reserves.
