Creggan senior hurlers thoroughly defeated Ballymena in the first round of the Junior hurling Championship at Ahoghill on Monday evening.
From the first whistle to the last this was a battle, with some over exuberant tackles going in on a number of our players. The result of which now leaves Thomas McCann on the sidelines for a considerable period with a broken bone in his foot…we wish him a speedy recovery.
Creggan dominated the match throughout and played some good, committed and skillful hurling and were by far the better of the two teams on show. The half time score of 1-08 to 0-01 demonstrating Creggan’s superiority, with Thomas McCann claiming the goal from a free.
The second half was a similar story to the first with Creggan outscoring their opponents. Enda Maguire, now playing in the forward line, justified his move upfield by claiming a goal to add to his first half point, and Conor McCann also bagged two goals of his own to leave Creggan winners on a score line of 4-12 to 0-06.
