North Antrim U16 Hurling Division 1
14th April 2008

Kickhams Creggan 6-07
St Brendans 1-03

Creggan U16 hurlers secured their first two points in the North Antrim U16 Division 1 with a comprehensive 19 point victory over St Brendan's in Cloughmills.

Starting without two key players in Martin Johnston and Conor Mc Cann (started in goals) Creggan were not looking forward to competing against a St Brenadan's team who have the pick of three hurling clubs - Cushendun, Cloughmills and Glenravel. In the end they young Creggan hurlers simply got down to work and did the business taking an 8 point lead into half time (3:3 to 1:1).

Some great scores in the first half from Matthew Nelson (1:2), Danan O Hara and Nathan Rocks (1:0 each) and Fergal Shivers (0:1) left St Brendan's with a mountain to climb in the second half.

Creggan gave Conor Mc Cann a run out in the 2nd half switching with Tiernan Mc Larnon who had superbly taken on the role of full back in the first half. Following a great point from Michael Mc Closkey the remainder of the scoring came form Conor Mc Cann ( 3:3) in a fifteen minute period. Two goals in particular were unstoppable shots after great fielding and solo runs.

A great game from all involved with Matthew Nelson, Aidan Mc Keown and Declan Mc Cann in particular standing out. Although only outfield for 15 minutes Conor Mc Cann showed he was back to full fitness with a powerful display of score taking

Next game is at home to Dunloy - 21st April. Come along and see for yourselves how good these boys really are!!

Kickhams Team - T Mc Larnon, F Burke, D O Hara, D Mc Cann, R Nelson, F Mc Auley, C Mc Larnon, A Mc Keown, M McCloskey, M Nelson, O Mc Cann, C Mc Cann, N Rocks, F Mc Cann, F Shivers.
