ACFL Div. 4
14 March 2010

Cargin 2-07
Kickhams Creggan 2-11

Creggan opened their ACFL Division 4 with a short away trip to Toome to face parish rivals Cargin on Sunday. It was an even game throughout the 60 minutes with Creggan edging it by four points at the final whistle.

Kickhams went in to the break 4 points to the good playing with the considerable breeze that was blowing down the field but the concern was that the gap would not be big enough to take in to the second period. Eunan McAteer getting Creggan's first half goal after a strong surging run from the impressive Cathal Small.

Half Time: Cargin 0-05, Kickhams Creggan 1-06

So as was expected, Cargin started the second period strong and they reduced the deficit to just one point as they scored a goal early on. Points were traded on a regular basis with Creggan just keeping their noses in front at all times. Paul Nelson secured the win with a fine goal deep in to the second half as he smashed the ball to the roof of the net after good quick hand passing within the large Cargin square.

A passage of keep ball ensued to make sure that possession was kept with a green and gold jersey as the clock ticked away to the final whistle.

A good first win for new captain Declan Smyth and confidence high going into the next match away to Rasharkin.
