All County Minor Football Championship
Semi Final
17 August 2010

Kickhams Creggan 2-08
St. Johns 1-12

Creggan exited this year’s Minor Championship at the hands of St. Johns on Tuesday evening at Glenavy.

The prize at stake was a place in the County Final for a third consecutive year but unfortunately the team fell short by the narrowest of margins…1 point.

Creggan opened the scoring in the early exchanges but try as they might they could not register another score for the remainder of the half, with the Belfast side holding a healthy 8 point advantage at the break.

Creggan raised their game in the second period and second half goals from Tiarnan McLarnon and an Aidan McKeown penalty were just not enough to reign in the lead. St. Johns themselves scored from the spot in between times and were always able to keep their noses in front.

Looking at the bigger picture though, it has been a tremendous 3 years that our Minor teams have given this club, so we thank them and the management team for the highs that they provided.

The football for these fellas doesn’t stop here though, as there is the small matter of a Laverty Cup final to be played against Dunloy in the coming weeks, so there is high hopes for more silverware yet.
