Féile na nGael 2015

Kickhams Creggan GAC were delighted to welcome Na Seamroga (Offaly) for the 2015 Féile na nGael during the weekend of June 19-21. Apart from their own clash (won by the visitors) which was played in Creggan, all other matches took place at the Lavey club. In the end both Clubs reached the semi-finals of their B section, and unfortunately both sides lost out in those games. Credit goes to all the players for whom this was a great experience and a great opportunity to learn. Over the course of the weekend the following people were scorers: Morgan Nelson (2-15), Sean McAllister (2-01), Joe McAteer (2-0), Dominic McAteer (1-03), Sean Duffin (0-02).

Credit also goes to a large number of people who made the weekend a great success, in particular all players, parents, mentors and Club members who offered great hospitality to the visiting team. A number of people deserve a mention for their immense efforts over the build-up to and period of the Féile: Martin Nelson (mentor, host, parent & provider of a tasty barbeque on Saturday), Dominic Hughes (mentor, host, parent and scorer of goal of the tournament at the mini soccer), Donal Grant (mentor, parent, host and note-taker throughout), Eamonn McAllister (mentor, parent, cheerleader, entertainments officer, and that’s only half of it), and Michael Small (mentor, parent, umpire and more). However, particular thanks goes to Joe Rice who made the whole thing happen, from flags to food, to kits, and organization of the hosting.

We wish our (new) friends from Offaly all the very best for the future. It was a pleasure to meet and host them.
